Performer Flying Systems & Equipment Design

Bringing performers safely into flight requires a seamless blend of engineering precision and creative vision. At KCI, formerly McLaren Engineering Group, our entertainment engineers specialize in performer flying systems and motion equipment design that balance artistic intent with uncompromising safety.

Working under industry standards such as ANSI E1.43 – Entertainment Technology – Performer Flying Systems and EN 17206 – Machinery for Stages and Production Areas, we provide end-to-end engineering support for productions that lift, suspend, or move performers through space. Whether for a touring show, theatrical performance, or permanent installation, we ensure every element of the system — from winches and hoists to truss supports and brakes — is engineered to perform reliably and safely.

Performer Flying Design for La Nouba Street Performance

Designed and reviewed performer flying systems for this outdoor aerial production.

Rigorous Review for Safe System Performance

Our team typically serves as the Engineer of Record, reviewing system design, verifying load paths, and confirming compliance with safety codes. We analyze redundancy systems, braking requirements, and acrobatic load factors, performing risk assessments where needed to maintain the highest level of performer safety.
