Engineering done right, stands the test of time. It has been 10 years since McLaren engineered the tornado exhibit for the Museum of Science + Industry in Chicago, Illinois. Today, spectators can still step inside the 40-foot-tall, indoor tornado simulator to feel the churning effects. From the swirling air to the continuous stream of vapor rising from the floor, museum guests can increase wind speed, moisture and more from both levels of this two-story interactive exhibit. McLaren structurally engineered the museum exhibit’s framing and ceiling supports to brace the wind and air pressure forces. Production Resource Group fabricated and installed the exhibit.
