Taylor Zimmerman Lectures at Stevens
Data Collection, SfM Theory and Engineering Applications
Taylor Zimmerman, FAA certified sUAS pilot and a drone and aerial mapping expert, recently delivered a guest lecture during Stevens Institute of Technology’s Undergraduate Civil Engineering Measurements course, introducing the diverse applications and intricacies of drone technology in data collection and it’s use in engineering projects.
During the “Drones: Data Collection, SfM Theory and Engineering Applications” lecture, Taylor introduced the various types of engineering-grade drones used in real-world applications, outlined different methods of data collection including SfM photogrammetry, emphasized the importance of ground control points in data collection, and discussed common errors within drone data collection.
