A skilled structural engineer, Vlad’s experience ranges from the design of new buildings to renovation work for existing structures and tenant fit-out projects. With a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo and Master’s in Structural Engineering from The City College of New York, his passion lies in providing innovative solutions for complex renovation and restoration projects of historic structures throughout NYC and the Northeast.
“When working on these buildings, we often see serious deficiencies caused by anything from aging to underlying load path issues. Sometimes, proper remediation even requires the complicated replacement of major elements like building columns or floor framing. Because each situation is unique, I have to approach it with a holistic strategy. This means understanding how the structural design of those repairs will consider construction logistics, shoring designs, jacking operations, etc. And often times, we are also juggling additional challenges like space constraints, historic preservation requirements, and even working in fully occupied buildings!”
