Gondola plans pushing forward in Albany

ALBANY — Just over a year after the concept was first floated to wide publicity, backers are quietly planning construction of an aerial gondola over the Hudson River between the Rensselaer Amtrak station and downtown Albany.

"We have continued our work on the project, developing plans, meeting with stakeholders and raising private investment capital," said Peter Melewski, project manager for the proposed Capital District Gondola and national director of strategic planning for McLaren Engineering Group of West Nyack, Rockland County.

West Nyack Survey Division is Expanding

McLaren’s West Nyack office continues to expand with the hire of a new survey team member, Matt Lisko. Matt comes to us with experience in field surveys, deed research and data processing. Welcome Matt!

Kosciuszko Bridge Removal

Last week, McLaren provided naval architecture and navigation services to help transport the old Kosciuszko Bridge to a recycling plant in New Jersey. McLaren assisted in calculating the barge stability and vessel arrangement for the lowering, loading, and lashing of the 300-foot trestle. McLaren also determined the movement of barges carrying the large center span of the bridge through Newtown Creek, with respect to the barge configuration, positioning of the bridge span on the barges, navigational restrictions, USCG restrictions and general feasibility.

Home Run of Fun

Headquarters had a blast watching the Boulders beat the Trois-Rivieres Aigles in the bottom of the 9th walk off win. This Christmas in July themed game was a home run of fun.
