As part of McLaren’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, we are giving back our time to the communities and organizations that have given us the opportunities to become what we are today.

The Rockland County Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial and Monument, being displayed in Haverstraw Bay County Park, will honor all those from Rockland County, NY who served in combat during the wars.

McLaren donated our time to create renderings and design the memorial. The design incorporated elements particular to the wars, including:

As part of McLaren’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, we are giving back our time.

McLaren employees volunteered at the South Orangetown Middle School in Blauvelt, NY, last week. They gave a lesson and created a fun and realistic engineering challenge for the students. Each group was tasked with choosing materials (i.e. timber, concrete, or steel), adhering to design parameters (e.g. square footage), and optimizing either cost or time.

Citywide Ferry Service is up and Running Fast

NYC officially launched its first 2 routes yesterday....and the Ferry beat the Train! McLaren provided engineering consulting services for the development, investigation, planning, design, coordination, permitting, procurement, and construction administration for the design of these ferry landings.

McLaren Presents at ASCE Structures Congress

McLaren engineers Matthew McCarty, PE, SE, and Matthew Kawczenski, PE, SE, took part in the ASCE Structures Congress last week in Denver, CO. The conference is hosted by the Structural Engineering Institute and highlights state of the art developments in the field of structural engineering. At the conference, Matthew McCarty presented the paper “Innovative Use of FRP in Large Diameter Piles for Vessel Impact,” co-authored by McLaren employee Vahid Zanjani, PE, PhD.

McLaren Engineers are Teaching Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines 101

McLaren is proud to announce two of our Resiliency experts, Anand Agarwal, PE and Darryl Zuk, are teaching a course on cutting-edge waterfront design in collaboration with the Waterfront Alliance. “Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines 101” is a mini-course on resilient ecological waterfront design and the Waterfront Alliance’s groundbreaking new rating system. The course is free, and being held on Wednesday, April 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Cornell Architecture Art Planning at 26 Broadway, 20th floor, New York, NY.
