The $75 million expansion of Hofstra University’s Center for Science and Innovation shared by the Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Studies and the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science is expected to open in 2023.
Working with steel fabricator, United Structural Works, McLaren’s Construction engineering team provided (SSE) Specialty Structural Engineering Services for the project’s delegated connections, perimeter safety netting, and monumental stair design.
The building Structural Engineer of Record implemented a hybrid lateral system consisting of both moment and brace frames which, in some instances, overlapped one another creating unique interactions between the bracing and moment connection details. We provided connection design services for all delegated shear, axial, moment, and bracing connections.
Our construction team also performed delegated design engineering services for the Center for Science and Innovation‘s three monumental stairs in addition to in depth vibration studies.
We’re excited to share that McLaren Engineering Group is now part of KCI Technologies Inc., a 100% employee-owned firm offering engineering and consulting across all markets, and construction for communications and environmental projects.
Our commitment to excellence continues with the added strength of KCI’s full range of engineering and consulting services.
