Car Barn – Adaptive Reuse of a Historic 1800s Transit Facility

Located at the northwest corner of Central Avenue and East Pratt Street, the historic “Car Barn” originally functioned as part of Baltimore City’s cable car system in the 1800s. Today, the site is undergoing a significant adaptive reuse project aimed at transforming the existing structures into occupiable “core and shell” spaces. These redeveloped areas will later be customized through tenant-specific interior fit-outs.

Structural Engineering Involvement – McLaren Engineering Group

Our Structural engineers evaluated the existing building’s framework to determine its structural integrity and suitability for reuse. This included a comprehensive assessment of the current conditions and analysis to support informed design and construction decisions.
