1888 Studios – NJ Waterfront Development

The film industry is making its way back to its birthplace! An influx of studios and soundstages are currently in development across New Jersey, positioning the state as “Hollywood East.” One such campus, under construction in Bayonne, is 1888 Studios, named after the year Thomas Edison filed a patent for the motion picture camera.

McLaren is providing survey, design, permitting, and construction support services for a perimeter retaining wall around the campus and a public waterfront esplanade.

About 1888 Studios

“The waterfront brownfield site on the Kill van Kull and Newark Bay was a former Texaco site rezoned in 2020 in a redevelopment plan to permit a film studio to be built. When completed, it will be New Jersey’s largest film and television studio and will include a part of the Hackensack RiverWalk.” – Wikipedia
