Background Lighting Display
at Macy’s

A Philadelphia tradition, Macy’s Christmas Light Show at the historic Wanamaker building is now on display!

Dating back to 1956, the annual event voiced by Julie Andrews, features classic songs and stories like The Nutcracker and Frosty the Snowman illuminated by 100,000 lights and echoed by the sounds the world’s largest operating musical instrument, the Wanamaker organ. To erect the background lighting display, our entertainment team provided rigging support and engineering for the connection of a chain hoist in the 9th floor attic above the Christmas Light Display in the Great Court.

The Wanamaker Building held the first department store in Philadelphia and one of the first in the U.S. It is a National Historic Landmark.

EVENT INFO
This year, the free light show will run just once a day at 10:30 a.m. from December 1-24, and moves to 11:30 a.m. from Dec. 26-31.
