Unionport Bridge Construction

To replace the Unionport Bridge in the Bronx, NY, two temporary detour bridges have been built to mitigate traffic disruption on Bruckner Boulevard and allow for accessible boat passage on the Westchester Creek below, before erection of the final bascule span.

Working with Unionport Constructors, JV, McLaren’s construction engineering team is supporting structural erection of the bascule span by providing design of temporary shoring towers for support of the counterweight and bascule heel-span girders. The team is also providing erection support of the trunnion towers, counterweight, and individual spans which includes outlining crane pick plans and rigging associated with the girders and infill steel.
