Franklin Middle School Track and Field Renovations

Go Warriors! Franklin Middle School’s Hamilton Street Campus in Somerset, NJ now has new sport facilities. McLaren Engineering Group worked on the scoreboard, track and practice field renovations. For the football field improvements, McLaren engineered a practice field area and performed foundation design for a new scoreboard. Track and field renovations include the removal/replacement of the track asphalt base and track rubber surfaces at the high, long, and triple jump, running track, and providing a javelin and shot-put area; replacing the existing asphalt at the walking areas, and track and security perimeter fencing. The visitor grandstand and press box was also removed and replaced.

Multidisciplinary Track and Field Renovations Services

As a multidisciplinary engineering firm, McLaren was able to provide site/civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying and structural engineering all under one roof.

Site/Civil Engineering Services: prepared schematic site plan; sediment and erosion control plans; irrigation plans; sediment control permit; construction documents; bid support; and construction phase services.

Geotechnical Engineering Services: provided field investigation/borings for the design of the bleachers, press box and scoreboard. Developed boring plan and specifications for exploratory work; solicited and analyzed drilling contractors bids; supervised/coordinated boring taking activities; prepared geotechnical report including all data collected, engineering analysis, and recommendations.

Survey Services: provided a topographic survey for the portion of the School property.

Structural Engineering Services: provided structural engineering/investigation of the existing concrete piers and grandstand support structure. Engineering analysis of the existing bleacher framing for code compliance. Preparation of construction documents for footing foundations and wall details for any additional bleacher elements, press box and scoreboard, as well as construction phase services.
