The McLaren Difference: Applied Ingenuity

Banyan Cove Apartments was built under a tax-credit program that allows rent to be below market value to those with incomes low enough to qualify. This Central Florida senior living community is made up of two buildings containing 100 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment units. McLaren Engineering Group provided the structural design of the cost-effective wood-framed buildings including the concrete masonry column and steel framed porte cochère at main entrance building and other specialized facilities.

Both buildings, the mail kiosk, and dumpster enclosure are supported by a conventional slab-on-grade with thickened areas of slab at the bearing and shear walls. All structures were designed for the worst-case combination of loads using dead, live, and wind per Florida Building Code.
