New York State Society of Professional Engineers, Rockland Chapter, Recognizes Outstanding Contributions to the Engineering Profession

Laura Goodman, P.E., staff engineer, McLaren Engineering Group, was awarded the “Young Engineer of the Year Award” at the Rockland Chapter’s New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE) kick-off meeting this week.

This award recognizes a young NYSSPE member who has made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and the community.

“We have actively been recruiting young talent to help our firm prosper in the engineering field,” says Malcom G. McLaren, president and CEO, McLaren Engineering Group.  “People like Laura Goodman have brought fresh and exciting ideas to the table as we work on groundbreaking projects throughout the country. She is well deserving of this award and I am proud to support her selection.”

The young engineer started working for McLaren in November 2011. Her expertise includes 3-D modeling, historic theater renovations and solar structures. One of Goodman’s latest projects included structural, mechanical, and rigging for the award-winning Broadway production of Aladdin. Her work helped actors magically soar above stunned crowds for a three-minute duet on a magic carpet.

“I am honored to win the Young Engineer of the Year award from the Rockland Chapter of the NYSSPE. It’s a great moment to sit back and reflect on our team’s incredible work while anticipating the excitement that future projects will bring,” says Goodman.
