Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Station
2 is now open and ready for response! The extensive renovation and expansion of the Mechanicsville, MD volunteer fire station included 31,500 square feet of new construction on the existing five (5) acre property. McLaren provided site planning and layout, site grading and stormwater management design, erosion and sediment control, utility design (storm, sanitary, and water), paving design, landscape design, and preparation of all required land development plans. Stormwater Management was designed using MDE Environmental Site Design guidelines; while environmental plans, including Forest Stand Delineation and Forest Conversation Plans, were prepared in accordance with local and state regulatory requirements. McLaren also provided plan processing, permitting, and construction administration services.
The project consisted of demolishing the majority of the existing fire station, with the exception of the existing social hall and the parking lot(s) to the north of the site. The new building includes an office, training space, day room, kitchen, bunk rooms, and apparatus bays. The existing social hall was renovated with the addition of a new commercial kitchen. New parking areas were added on the rear, front, and south sides. Since public water and sanitary sewer did not exist, the renovated facility now uses the existing water well and sanitary septic system on the property.
