Super Bowl frenzy has gripped the New York metro area and McLaren Engineering Group (McLaren) has been in the trenches; helping to make the myriad events and happenings safe and successful for all involved. McLaren has been involved with planning and the development of structural elements for many events throughout the city. McLaren’s biggest contributions are that we performed a structural analysis, and helped facilitate the building permit process for submission to the New York City Department of Buildings; ensuring that all the structures we worked on would be approved and ready in time for this big New York event.

For the extensive “Super Bowl Boulevard”, which extends down Broadway from 47th Street to 34th Street, McLaren engineered a stage assembly (50 feet x 30 feet) to support and stabilize 15 LED towers; the tallest of which towers 20 feet over Broadway. Collectively, the screens display a unique tour of New York; showing everything the State has to offer, from skyscrapers to spectacular landscapes. This experience (conceptualized by Lead Dog Marketing, fabricated by Cigar Box Studios and implemented by WorldStage), both visual and interactive, allows visitors to pass in and around the LED screens.

Downtown at Time Warner Cable’s Highline Stages on 14th Street, Time Warner Cable begins offering everyone the opportunity to party like an A-lister before The Big Game at one of its star-studded events. Every night between January 29th and February 1st, Time Warner Cable Studios is hosting TV stars from partner networks, sports legends and superstar musicians at its various events including SHOWTIME® and Food Network’s Ultimate Tailgate Experience on Wednesday, FOX Sports 1’s Thursday Night Super Bash, and ASPiRE’s Ultimate 70s Soul Party on Friday night. For this event McLaren engineered a 14 foot tall vertical semi-circular curved truss that cantlevers over patrons. The structure supports 156 LED Screens, presenting the audience a unique experience. McLaren also engineered a temporary entryway to the venue which featured a 75 foot long LED Banner.

ESPN’s Party promises it’s “not just a party...it is a platform, a culture, and an experience!". For this epic event, McLaren performed a structural analysis of the roof framing to support rigging loads.

In addition, McLaren has been involved in other high profile private events in NYC providing engineering support and services, and facilitating the permitting process for these exciting events.
