With McLaren's Help, Big Book of Dreams Unveiled in Rockefeller Center

The Big Book of Dreams

McLaren can now add the world’s largest children’s book to its engineering résumé.

Unveiled on Nov. 6 in Rockefeller Center, the Big Book of Dreams was constructed to help promote Carnival Cruise Lines’ three-year partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The book, measuring 15.5 feet by 20 feet, is the latest in a long line of purpose-built structures for which McLaren has provided engineering services. The firm performed a structural engineering review of the Book structure, the stage and the stage’s temporary roof, a self-climbing system.

Introducing the charitable alliance between Carnival and St. Jude’s was Academy Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden. Harden conducted a special reading of “The Dream Plucker of Perrysport” from the Book of Dreams.
