Atlantic Marine Pier

Atlantic Marine Pier, Jacksonville, FL
Project Overview:
McLaren was retained to prepare demolition plans for their existing pier, develop design plans for construction of a new pier using the existing piles, bents and dolphins, and provide construction phase services. The new pier is now capable of mooring a CG-47 class Navy warship. In addition to marine services, McLaren was tabbed to provide site/civil engineering for the topside of the pier.
McLaren's Role:
Demolition was the first phase of the project, and McLaren prepared and submitted the necessary permits and plans. From there, McLaren collected data to better familiarize ourselves with the site and determine requirements for topographic and utility surveys. Geotechnical investigations were performed as needed. Replacement design for the pier and adjacent bulkhead track was next. McLaren provided alternate schematic design plans based upon the planned use of the pier. Site/Civil work was key in the pier design, and services include: grading and paving plans; wastewater collection system; stormwater drainage and management system; and erosion control plan. McLaren then provided construction management services, from bid phase to construction inspection.
