NYSTA Canal Structure Inspections

Project Overview:

McLaren is providing underwater inspection and assessment of 90 barge canal structures for the New York State Thruway Authority along the Albany to Buffalo segments of the historic New York State Waterway Canal System. Structures included locks, guard gates, fixed crest dams, moveable dams, tainter gates, spillways, terminals, docks, guide structures, and culverts.

McLaren's Role:

McLaren was responsible for these underwater inspection and assessment services for three term contracts. For each contract, comprehensive reports were prepared including underwater photo documentation, sketches, and a summary of results of findings. Inspections were conducted in accordance with the NYSDOT Bridge Diving Inspection Manual, and the NYSTA Draft Specification for Bridge Diving Inspection and Fathometer Survey Manual.
