Croton Beach Road Extension

Road Extension at Brook Street
Project Overview:
McLaren was retained by Metro-North Railroad to provide engineering services for the design of a road and tunnel extension to eliminate a grade crossing in a high-speed territory called Brook Street Grade Crossing. Brook Street crosses over three main tracks and two sidetracks of Metro-North’s Hudson Line in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson. The objective of this project was to eliminate the grade crossing by providing access to the waterfront from the Half Moon Bay Bridge. This required the design of an extension of Croton Beach Road from the tunnel to the Half Moon Bay Loop Bridge. With the elimination of the grade crossing, the new road is currently providing convenient and safer access to the waterfront.
McLaren's Role:
McLaren performed a structural inspection of the tunnel and prepared contract documents for the extension of the tunnel and Croton Beach Road. Work included installation of a duct bank for a 13.2kv electric line, communication cable, water main, street lighting, pavement, guide rails, fencing, retaining walls, and landscaping.
