McLaren Engineer honored at NYSSPE meeting
McLaren Engineer Jeremy Billig has had a busy but distinguishing year – one that has marked him as one of the engineering industry’s rising stars.
He has successfully managed over 10 sizeable projects ranging from theater and store renovations to architectural themeing, monitoring the project schedule and servicing the clients – all while guiding the creative process of turning concept into actuality.
The perfect way to cap it off? Billig was named “Young Engineer of the Year” by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE), Rockland County Chapter.
The Award, presented at the June 18 Installation of Officers and Awards Dinner, honors Billig for his outstanding work at McLaren over the past 12 months. Billig has been active as Project Manager or Lead Structural Engineer on projects such as the Longacre Theater Renovations, Billabong Store Renovations, and Toyota’s Advertising Campaign for the Tundra. In each case, he was instrumental in developing innovative solutions to numerous structural and mechanical engineering challenges.
Perhaps the past year’s best example of Billig’s versatility and engineering talent came as Project Manager for the National Harbor Outdoor Retractable Movie Screen. McLaren performed a feasibility/conceptual study on an outdoor retractable screen and furnished bid documents, with Billig coordinating McLaren’s structural and mechanical design staff, the client, and the technical designer for the project.
Other notable projects include Project Manager for Various Live Events nationwide, providing structural and mechanical engineering for rigging and staging; and supplying structural engineering work for the Kinetic Atrium at Switch Restaurant in Las Vegas.
