40th Philanthropic Events - ASCE Walkway Over the Hudson

As part of McLaren’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, we are giving back our time to the communities and organizations that have given us the opportunities to become what we are today.

Last night, McLaren employees were “Volunteers at the Upper Landing” at the ASCE Walkway Over the Hudson event. This fantastic evening featured a walking tour across the Walkway Over the Hudson Historic Park, dinner, lecture, and documentary film about the transformation of the old rail freight bridge into an astounding recreation space.

The film included interviews with key players -- including our President and Founder Malcolm McLaren -- that helped transform the abandoned railroad bridge into the scenic “Walkway Over the Hudson” that has become a world class tourist destination.

The Walkway Over the Hudson was also chosen as the Quadricentennial legacy project -- the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s discovery and settling in New York State. Every 100 years the state chooses one legacy project, and in 2009 the walkway was it.

This was a big project for McLaren, not only for the in-depth inspection and repair work we did, but also for the elevator that was completed in 2014.
