I am saddened by the loss of life and suffering that occurred in Indianapolis this weekend (see video from CNN below). There have been a number of other stage roof collapses over the past few years, and I am sure that many people are asking what can be done about this situation.

McLaren engineers MTV's New Year's Eve 2011 Ball Drop
January 4, 2011 - 11:46am — Robin SmithMTV commissioned McLaren to engineer the television network’s own version of the New Year’s midnight ball drop.
The production, which included a plastic and metal sphere that was lowered over 12 ft. from an elevated circular truss to the stage precisely at midnight, featured Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, a notable member of MTV’s hit “Jersey Shore.” Snooki was contained inside the sphere as it descended.
McLaren tours with Black Eyed Peas
